✒️ Konrad Grübel – a distant ancestor

One of the most interesting things about art is ⚡️ intuition, which can also be objectified as “chance” – it remains the same for me. At some point, however, the question arises again what could be mystical about it. Intuition was it, which brought me the name GRÜBELBACH, and only afterwards the 🔎 search engine was fired up. 〰️ Two watercourses come into sight (here near Gotha in 🚪 Thuringia and here near 🧪 Regensburg in Bavaria). Quite quickly it becomes clear that the namesake in the artistic disciplines had the more monosyllabic attitude in his surname, but simultaneously had the advantage of the correct first name: Konrad Grübel (1736-1809).

He earned his fame through his dialect poems, which give a faithful picture of the life and goings-on of the Nuremberg bourgeoisie. In his poems, he dealt with the everyday life of his hometown in a humorous and popular way. His poems were initially self-published in pamphlet and booklet form. Already during Grübel’s lifetime, his poems in Nuremberg dialect were compiled in a first collected edition (1798-1812). He also published Correspondences and Letters in Nuremberg Dialect (Nuremberg 1808).

Even Goethe praised the dialect poet Grübel. He said that everything this poet wrote was ‘clear, cheerful and pure, like a glass of water’. However, he criticized his ‘unpleasant’ dialect, which contained strong North Bavarian/Upper Palatinate echoes. If the poems were to find a wider readership, the translation of the dialect into “purer German” was indispensable.

Grübel was admitted to the Pegnesian Order of Flowers in 1808.

Draft of a communist #utopia by Florida Klaus 🍹 #germanmusic #robot #politics

At first I thought the recommendation wasn’t statesmanlike enough: the new music video “Fully Automated Luxury Communism” by Florida Klaus.

As a former rock’n’roll advisor under German President Walter Scheel, I still have something like a residual responsibility. I also have to look again into the fine print of the employment contracts to see to what extent it is obligatory.

Because I also watched the credits, I can consider myself quite reassured …

🎬🏳️ Sign shifting

In June of last year, I wrote that things would pick up again here on the blog – but fiddlesticks. In fact I’m just practicing announcement rhetoric, which seems to be a specialty of winners.

No, but – a lot is happening. Several Grübelbach albums are in long-term preparation, currently the second and first English-language one of the ➗ ROCK DOTS. In the penultimate entry, moreover, I had mentioned a no-budget film. 🏦🖼🎸🐞 IM BEZIRK should also still see the light of day in 2022 – first at one or the other performance in front of an audience (depending on the whims of the virus), then certainly on the platforms. Almost 50 min. of film are currently finished.

As we can see on this proof photo, there has already been quite considerable sign shifting during the shooting.

Here, Merlin and my humble self are on a royal mission with Pope Tauchsieder I. We are thus moving – not directly apparent in this picture – in the refuge of a gigantic digital corporation. The transformation of our eating habits will also play more than one role in this experimental feature film.

Once again, I will refrain from giving specific dates – but I promise you that this year will not pass by uneventfully in the Grübelverse.

Grübel-work unobserved 🎞🥽 #gruebelimage

It’s been quiet here on the blog for a few weeks. That doesn’t mean that the Grübel project is resting, quite the opposite: Several albums are growing in rehearsals, recordings and sound experiments. In addition, the first part of a longer no-budet experimental feature film has been made from already existing videos. The filming will continue step by step.

The web activities are now resumed here a little more. You don’t always have to broadcast – that’s one of the better slogans of our future. But if, then …
